New York City residents are being targeted by a group of brazen thieves using an unusual tactic to swindle their victims: kindness. The NYPD has issued a warning about a string of "jewelry swap" robberies, where con artists befriend unsuspecting individuals and then offer to trade or sell them jewelry at inflated prices. However, once the victim hands over their valuables, the scammer makes off with the goods, leaving the victim with nothing. As the city's residents become increasingly wary of strangers, authorities are urging them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the police.
