For the first time, the initiative will bring traffic-free streets to the borough, allowing residents and visitors to explore their neighborhoods on foot or by bike. The event, which has been a staple in Manhattan since its inception, aims to promote a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle by closing off several miles of streets to cars and opening them up to pedestrians, cyclists, and local businesses. From August 12 to 14, Queens residents can look forward to a car-free weekend in neighborhoods like Sunnyside and Astoria, with activities and events planned along the way.
