NYC Councilmember Chi Ossé was arrested Wednesday while protesting an attempted eviction in Brooklyn, his office said. Ossé was protesting with about 50 others in support of Bed-Stuy resident Carmella Charrington, who’s been locked in a dispute over her home’s deed, his office said. “For months, our office has pushed for an eviction moratorium for homeowners facing deed theft. These protections are the bare minimum, and families cannot wait any longer. Not another Black homeowner should have their home stolen.
