A suspect has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the Kingsbridge Heights area. Authorities allege the individual used a .45 caliber firearm to shoot a 15-year-old victim inside an apartment building on Tuesday evening. The incident took place on the fifth floor of a residence on Claflin Avenue, near West 197th Street. The suspect turned himself in following the shooting, which occurred around 5:20 p.m. on August 12.
Kalvin Veloz, turned himself in Tuesday and was charged with murder for allegedly firing a .45 caliber weapon at 15-year-old Riley Billingsley inside a fifth-floor apartment on Claflin Avenue near West 197th Street in Kingsbridge Heights around 5:20 p.m. Aug. 12, authorities said.
