Encores! Off-Center is set to bring two beloved classics to the stage in 2027, as part of its annual New York City Center series. The lineup will feature a revival of the 1993 musical "Kiss of the Spider Woman," with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Terrence McNally. Based on the novel by Manuel Puig, the show tells the story of two men, one a cellmate and the other a policeman, who form an unlikely bond in a South American prison. The production will be directed by Michael Mayer, known for his work on "Spring Awakening" and "American Idiot."
