Construction industry leaders are taking a critical step towards prioritizing mental health and worker safety on New York job sites. A new union peer network, aimed at preventing construction suicides, has been launched in the state. The initiative is a collaborative effort between unions, contractors, and mental health professionals to create a supportive environment where workers feel comfortable opening up about their struggles. By fostering open communication and providing access to resources, the program hopes to break the stigma surrounding mental health issues and reduce the alarmingly high rate of construction worker suicides in New York.
