A new area code is set to take over parts of New York City, bringing changes to residents and businesses in the affected areas. Starting immediately, the '465' area code will cover the Bronx, Brooklyn, and other neighborhoods in the five boroughs, joining the existing '718' and '917' codes. This expansion is a result of the growing demand for phone numbers in the region, with the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) deeming it necessary to introduce the new code. As a result, residents and businesses will need to update their contact information to reflect the change.
