Winners of a rare MetroCard machine giveaway in Queens are claiming their prizes, which include gift cards, electronics, and other high-value items. The contest, tied to a malfunctioning fare payment system, allowed participants to win by triggering a malfunction during transactions. Organizers are distributing the prizes directly to winners at designated locations in the borough. The unusual promotion stems from a technical issue that turned an everyday commute into an unexpected opportunity for some riders.
