Suffolk County Police arrested a high school teacher on Thursday for allegedly stalking a former student with whom he had a prior sexual relationship. The officer who spoke to the press said the suspect, identified as Kennedy, was taken into custody at his St. James residence that evening. Police say the arrest follows a complaint that the teacher was harassing the student after the relationship ended. The case raises concerns about teacher conduct and student safety, and investigators are examining the extent of the alleged stalking.
“Suffolk County Police today arrested a high school teacher for stalking a former student that he had sexual affairs with previously,” a spokesperson for the police department said, adding that Kennedy was cuffed at his St. James home Thursday evening.
