New York City's iconic MetroCard is being phased out, replaced by the OMNY system. For years, the MetroCard has been a staple of daily commutes for millions of New Yorkers, but as the city continues its push towards a cashless, contactless payment system, OMNY is becoming the new norm. Since its introduction in 2017, OMNY has been expanding its reach, allowing commuters to pay for subway and bus fares using their credit or debit cards, as well as their smartphones. But with the city's plans to fully eliminate the MetroCard by 2023, OMNY is now a must-have for anyone navigating the city's public transportation system.
