In a thrilling finish to a marathon doubleheader, the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a crucial doubleheader split against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The Dodgers' Mookie Betts' teammate, Yadier's teammate's fellow shortstop, Tommy Edman's pinch-hitting heroics were not enough to secure a sweep for the Dodgers. Edman's go-ahead pinch blast in the top of the 7th inning momentarily gave the Dodgers the lead, but the Yankees managed to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. The Dodgers ultimately fell short, but still earned a vital split in the Bronx, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the competitive National League West.
