New York Democrats are calling out Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Anthony D'Esposito's running mate, Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, Ana Paula Lavin and assembly candidate, Anthony Conde's running mate, Michael Blakeman, for his alleged ties to anti-LGBTQ+ lawmakers and extremist groups. According to reports, Blakeman has been associated with several lawmakers who have a history of pushing anti-LGBTQ+ policies, sparking concerns among LGBTQ+ advocates and Democrats. The controversy comes as Blakeman runs for lieutenant governor alongside Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Lee Zeldin, in the upcoming election. As the election heats up, Democrats are using Blakeman's associations to paint the Republican ticket as out of touch with the values of the state's diverse population.
