A somber ceremony took place in New York City as the community came together to pay tribute to a fallen American hero. Army Sergeant First Class Matthew T. Lewellen, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Jordan in 2016, was remembered for his bravery and selflessness. The outpouring of support from the community reflects the deep impact that Lewellen's sacrifice has had on those who knew him and the city he called home. As flags were lowered to half-staff and mourners gathered to share stories and memories, the city honored the life and legacy of a true American hero.
