During this stretch, CHP will intensify patrols and sobriety checkpoints across the state, while the Los Angeles Police Department will deploy extra officers to high‑traffic areas. The initiative aims to reduce alcohol‑related crashes and keep commuters safe as holiday travel ramps up.
CHP is launching a 78-hour Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Period (HEP) to ensure that drivers are not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. LAPD will also have additional officers on patrol from August 17 through Labor Day.
