Music Festival Lineup Tool to Expand Beyond Resident Advisor A popular music festival lineup tool is set to undergo a significant upgrade, incorporating a wider range of services to provide users with a more comprehensive experience. Currently, the tool relies on Resident Advisor for its data, but upcoming changes will bring in additional sources to enhance its functionality. The tool's Soundcloud integration is a key feature, using metadata from uploaded tracks to suggest the genres of music that will be played at each festival. However, users may encounter inconsistencies in genre classification due to artists' inconsistent tagging practices, resulting in unusual genre labels such as "electronic mazel tov." The tool's developers are working to address this issue and improve the overall accuracy of their music genre suggestions.
Currently it only pulls from Resident Advisor, will add a lot more Services into it. The Soundcloud Integration is what populates the Genres. Wen the Soundcloud Player loads it sends Metadata of the Tracks the Artists upload and from that we can display what music genres will be played there. Unfortunately not every Artist tags their Songs correctly so you get Genres like "electronic mazel tov", no real way to fix that. submitted by /u/Dependent-Use-3215 [link] [comments]
